What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home & Community Program Coordinator position at The Courageous Steps Project?
We are seeking a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Home & Community Program Coordinator to assist with core operations, staff support, client coordination, and supervision. This role will work closely with the Director of Home and Community Services to ensure smooth onboarding, service coordination, communication, and documentation processes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate initial client intake steps, including referral communication, guardian outreach, and scheduling meet-and-greets;
- Manage and update BHP-client schedules; communicate staffing changes to team and families;
- Conduct phone screenings, background/reference checks, and assist with new hire onboarding;
- Maintain onboarding content and track onboarding steps (e.g., BHP course registration, paperwork);
- Serve as a day-to-day support contact for BHPs regarding scheduling, tools, and documentation reminders;
- Assist with documentation preparation (e.g., treatment plan drafts, progress note organization, Acentra tracking); and
- Support communication efforts for community initiatives (optional/as needed).
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a BHP or in behavioral health/child-focused services;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- High attention to detail and strong time management;
- Comfort working with families and staff in person, via phone, and through email;
- Ability to work independently while following established procedures; and
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, JotForm, PDFs, etc.).
The Ideal Candidate has the Above and:
- Familiarity with MaineCare Section 28, Acentra, and ITP processes
- Experience in client onboarding, education, or early childhood programs
- A Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field (psychology, education, etc.)
- A licensed social worker (LSW), or a registered nurse (RN)
