Desert Highlands Association/Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic and personable Pickleball Professional to enhance member engagement through exceptional on- and off-court experiences. This role combines pickleball expertise with a strong focus on member relations, event coordination, and community-building within Desert Highlands Community. While private and group instruction may be part of the role, the primary focus is creating memorable, high-quality experiences that elevate our pickleball culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Member Engagement & Experience
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members involved in pickleball programming.
- Act as the on-site ambassador for all things pickleball; foster a welcoming, inclusive, and high-energy environment for players of all skill levels.
- Actively build relationships with members to understand their interests and ensure satisfaction.
Programming & Events
- Design, organize and execute a calendar of pickleball-focused activities, including: Social mixers, round robins, themed tournaments, and clinics.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate pickleball into broader club events and initiatives.
- Manage event logistics including communication, promotion, registration, and on-site coordination.
- Identify creative ways to grow participation and create buzz around pickleball offerings.
Instruction & Support
- Offer group clinics and private lessons tailored to varying skill levels.
- Provide informal coaching and encouragement during open play and events.
- Assist with player development and ladder/matchmaking recommendations when needed.
Operations & Administration
- Assist with court scheduling and equipment management.
- Track attendance and gather member feedback to continuously improve programming.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and integrate fresh ideas into the pickleball experience.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, College degree preferred.
- Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
- Present a positive, professional image.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, employees, members and guests.
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Reliable and predictable attendance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Publisher.
- Ability to work with general office equipment such as a computer, phone, photocopier and all racquet sports equipment such as ball machine, stringing machines,
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Preferred:
- 4-year college degree
- Certified in Pickleball through the USPTA or PPR
- Elite level of playing ability
- Extensive knowledge of Pickleball
- Exude a passion for racquet sports
- Minimum 2 years instruction experience
- Experience in a high-level Racquet Sports Center environment
- Knowledgeable in Pickleball equipment and supplies
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Position is in a world class Racquet Club located in an exclusive, private residential community in North Scottsdale, AZ.- Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend and walk.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects, and run on all court surfaces.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
- The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat.
- Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
