POSITION DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Food and Beverage
REPORTS TO: Food and Beverage Operations Manager, Food and Beverage Supervisor
In Room Dining Server
Summary
At The Dewberry, our primary focus is to become a part of our guests’ fondest memories no matter their reason for visiting. In Room Dining Servers will be responsible for providing our guests with a unique, but exceptional service in the comfort of their guest rooms.
The focus of this role will be to serve our guests in the comfort of their own guest room. This role will contribute to the organization by ensuring service is prompt and accurate, with a luxury but friendly demeanor to maintain The Dewberry standard.
Essential Functions
Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Perform pre- and post-work shift duties.
- Take guest orders via telephone using upselling techniques to maximize profitability.
- Have complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items and their specifications, including ingredients, preparation, and garnishments.
- Suggest daily specials and menu items to the guests’ interest.
- Enter beverage and food orders through the Point of Sale system; notifying the kitchen of any special requests.
- Prepare the delivery tray and room service cart with proper condiments, silverware, linens, glasses, utensils, etc; ensure order is complete prior to leaving the kitchen.
- Efficiently deliver all beverages and food to patrons in adherence to The Dewberry’s upscale service standards and food handling procedures.
- Verify the accuracy of the bill and present it to the patrons to receive a signature upon food delivery.
- Handle all cash, credit card and room charges as prescribed by The Dewberry Standards, Policies, and Procedures.
- Ensure patron satisfaction upon receiving their order and replenish items as necessary.
- Remove soiled trays from hallways or elevator landings and deliver them to the dishwashing station.
- Maintain the In-Room Dining station in a clean, organized, and sanitary manner.
- Run food to other outlets as needed.
- Provide solutions to patron complaints and escalate to management as necessary.
- Turn in daily shift receipts to the Manager on Duty.
- Follow local and state laws and the Dewberry’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to patrons.
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED.
- One year of food and beverage experience.
- Knowledge of safe food handling procedures.
- Ability to handle difficult situations and patrons.
- Ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks.
- Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication.
- Dependable work ethic with a positive attitude.
- Must exude punctuality with regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours) and walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Ability to push, pull or lift up to fifty pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
