The Elisabeth Morrow School is seeking candidates for its Associate Teacher Program. These positions are in our Early Learning division (2s through Kindergarten,) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Candidates should have an undergraduate degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or related field, or a Master’s degree in progress or recently completed. Associates will gain one or two years of teaching experience and may be eligible for partial college tuition reimbursement. We might also tap career changers who are beginning a program of study in education and have life experiences to share. Candidates who have some teaching experience will be prioritized.
Associate Teachers are given the opportunity to grow professionally in a dynamic and nurturing environment under the mentorship of experienced teachers. They will work towards developing a professional portfolio over the course of a 2-year tenure. They will learn in a school that began its 90-year legacy with an early childhood education program.
Responsibilities include working with lead teachers on maintaining and organizing materials, preparing for the week's lessons and activities, facilitating social interactions between students, helping to plan curriculum for the week or the month. Associates would also be given the opportunity to plan and execute their own unit of study at some point during the year. They would participate in conferences and contribute to writing student reports, as well as attend faculty meetings. (Communicating with parents via email, telephone, or in-person would be the lead teacher’s responsibility.)
