Position Summary:
The Childcare Director leads the day-to-day operations and strategic oversight of FTNC’s childcare center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed early childhood services. This role combines program leadership, family engagement, and staff supervision with responsibility for regulatory compliance, budgeting, and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Management & Leadership
· Ensure all childcare operations align with FTNC’s mission and applicable licensing standards.
· Lead the implementation of trauma-informed, nurturing, and culturally responsive care for children ages 0–4.
· Develop and manage the childcare budget in coordination with executive leadership.
· Collaborate with other FTNC program leaders to coordinate family services (visitation, case management, parenting classes, etc.).
Staff Supervision & Professional Development
· Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate childcare staff.
· Foster a positive and collaborative team culture with clear expectations and accountability.
· Ensure staff receive regular reflective supervision and professional development in early childhood best practices.
Family & Community Engagement
· Build trusting relationships with families; provide consistent communication, support, and referrals as needed.
· Ensure smooth transitions and communication between classroom, home, and other FTNC services.
· Represent the childcare program at community and agency events as needed.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
· Maintain full compliance with Montana childcare licensing standards, CACFP guidelines, Best Beginnings, Early Head Start, and other applicable early childhood regulations.
· Ensure all documentation (enrollment, attendance, incident reports, etc.) is complete and accurate.
Required Qualifications:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
· Minimum of 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
· Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and a deep understanding of child development.
· Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
· Familiarity with Montana childcare licensing regulations and CACFP, Best Beginnings, and Early Head Start standards.
· Ability to model emotional regulation, professionalism, and compassion in a high-stress environment.
· CPR and First Aide certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with families involved in the child welfare system.
· Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
· Familiarity with family support models, home visiting, or wraparound services.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,680.00 - $50,960.00 per year
