The Kessler Center is a residential special education school accepting school district CSE placements into a 24-hour, 365-day program. The Kessler Center serves children with profound cognitive disabilities who struggle with behavioral challenges and thus have not been able to access education without the support of a 24-hour residential school environment. The residences and school work hand-in-hand to provide comprehensive therapeutic treatment and consistency across the day. Additionally, the program works with families, school districts, and community providers to increase the supports to allow our students to return to less restrictive environments and thrive.

The Kessler Center is hiring a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) to coordinate the residential program for youth with disabilities living in Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) homes within a residential special education school.

The QIDP is responsible for assessment of resident needs, coordination of treatment team meetings, trainings for staff, direct observation of clients, auditing records for fidelity and accuracy, development of ADL and other goals to assist individuals in achieving independence, coordination between school, residence, family, and community partners, SSI and Medicaid benefits, ICF billing, collaboration with nursing and nutrition on medical and dental needs, documentation of progress, and collaboration with behavior support specialists.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform Case Management duties for each individual admitted to the ICF/DD program.
  • Be responsible for the supervision of the implementation of the individuals through direct observation, document review, and collateral contact per program policies/standards and state regulations.
  • Complete required program documentation and other required reports in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and assure service implementation with outside services (school and day programs) through regular monitoring and progress reviews and attendance at outside IEP/ISP meetings.
  • Coordinate and assure service implementation with contracted consultants (Occupational and Physical Therapy; Speech Pathology and Psychological services).
  • Maintain open, frequent communication with Residential Manager, family members, CSE chair, and clinical providers regarding the individual needs for both the residential and school programs.
  • Ensure all staff receives necessary training regarding individual needs.
  • Provide direct care support as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with all interagency departments, respecting the established chain of command.
  • Share responsibility for referral of individuals to other programs and work closely with the individual family and social worker in such matters.

Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in a field associated with Human Services
  • Experience in residential services preferred
  • Familiarity with OPWDD regulations
