What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at The Frazer Center?
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Director of Development works with the CEO and the Board of Directors to develop and implement short- and long-term development strategies to ensure the sustainability of the organization. The Director of Development coordinates, develops and supports fundraising activities, including but not limited to, grant writing, campaigns, individual donor research and cultivation, annual and special appeals, and special events.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- With the CEO and Board Development Committee, develop and execute an annual plan for resource development
- With the CEO and Board of Directors, develop and implement consistent brand messaging to position Frazer Center effectively with individual, corporate and foundation funders.
- Coordinate all external messaging (digital and hard copy) with Director of Marketing
- Coordinate “touches” for CEO and Board of Directors with potential major donors and institutional funders
- Manage all aspects of individual fundraising, including annual campaign segmentation, mailings, online appeals, follow-up activities, donor recognition, and record-keeping
- Plan and implement strategies to expand the donor base and cultivate individual donors, including development and implementation of a major donor strategy.
- Create and implement effective acknowledgement process for volunteers, donors, and institutional funders
- Provide at least annual analysis of fundraising efforts to CEO with list of recommendations for improving fundraising results every year
- Research individual donor prospects and prepare profiles for solicitors
- Direct the development and implementation of grant proposals and reporting requirements
- Manage volunteer planning committees and staff support for Frazer Center’s signature fundraising events
- Prepare the annual report in collaboration with Director of Marketing & Communications
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor and prospect records in the development database (Raisers Edge)
- Maintain both electronic and hard-copy donor files
- Coordinate grant reporting and compliance as required by funders
- Collaborate with Vice President of Finance & Administration to ensure proper accounting for all fundraising income and pledges and to reconcile records in Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge
- Prepare regular fundraising progress reports
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, fundraising, marketing or related field
- minimum of 3 to five years’ experience in development/marketing
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Raiser's Edge, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Desktop Publishing software
- Valid Georgia Driver’s License
