Position Summary:
As a Pre-Commercial Development (PCD) Project Manager, you will manage the screening and development of new pesticides and other forms of crop protection products from conception to commercialization, driving innovation through in-house and third-party projects. This role involves managing the entire development lifecycle, including market analyses, development of biology and other data, formulation, registration, and manufacturing. You will collaborate across teams and external partners to support Gowan’s mission of developing novel and differentiated agricultural products.

- Coordinate the development of comprehensive market analyses and develop business cases assessing competition, pricing, costs, and product fit within target markets.
- Own the product development process, providing regular updates to Asset Managers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Create annual project budgets, including resource requirements for efficient allocation and tracking.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team on third-party projects, ensuring proper execution of agreements, including Non-Disclosure, Material Transfer and Testing, Development and Commercialization Agreements.
- Protect Gowan's Intellectual Property rights and seek opportunities to develop new intellectual property.
- Facilitate transparent communication among regulatory, marketing, supply chain, field development, and key stakeholders on project status, risks, budgets, and returns.
- Foster an innovative environment, empowering team members to achieve project goals.
- Completion of development projects within pre-determined timelines, budgets, and project objectives while ensuring high standards of quality and effectiveness.
- Degree in agronomy, plant pathology, entomology, biology, or a related field, with project management experience.
- Experience in research and development, project management, or related fields within the crop protection industry.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and present results clearly in reports and presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Collaborative team player, committed to fulfilling stakeholder objectives.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, demonstrating sound judgment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, TEAMS).
- Experience using generative AI tools such as, ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), or Copilot (Microsoft).
- Ability to travel 20% of the time for meetings, field visits, and project coordination.
