Job Summary
The Resting Tree is the first Adult Day Training Program developed by The Ground Up Project, located in the heart of Niceville, Florida. Designed with a person-centered approach, this program offers individuals with unique abilities a supportive and inclusive environment where they can thrive. Participants can take part in free life skills classes, enjoy engaging recreational activities, and benefit from personalized support tailored to their individual goals and interests. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with unique abilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life. This position provides activities, companionship, supportive listening, assistance, and supervision to center participants. Follow the direction of the Program Director in anyway needed to carry out the responsibilities. Serves meals during meal time, etc. Comply with all AHCA requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist participants with training and learning through The Resting Tree Activity calendar.
- Supports participants with daily living activities, ie. self-care, feeding, etc.
- Provide structured Adult Day Training Program activities
- Calm, consistent, and supportive to participants
- Engages in activities to keep participants engaged and happy
- Light housekeeping and laundry.
- Assists with dining as needed or directed by leadership.
- Implement any needed care plans tailored to individual needs and preferences.
- Support clients in engaging with their peers and participating in social activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Assist participants with medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance participant's overall well-being.
- Collaborate with Program Director for any specific participant needs.
- Report any changes in the health and status of the participant and completing daily data sheets to record progress.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification are highly desirable.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health or behavior.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism and dementia care.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members. This role is essential for enhancing the lives of those we serve while providing a supportive environment that encourages independence and dignity.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
