Primary Purpose and Delegation of Authority
The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational and orientation programs throughout the facility, and act as infection control specialist in accordance with current applicable federal, state guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the administrator.
You are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LVN program whose license is unencumbered in this state.
Experience
Prefer a minimum, six (6) months experience in a nursing care facility. Prefer experience in supervision and principles, practice of teaching, etc.
Working Conditions
1. Works in office areas as well as throughout nursing service areas.
2. Moves intermittently during working hours.
3. Is subject to frequent interruptions.
4. Works beyond normal working hours on weekends and holidays, and on other shifts/positions when necessary.
5. Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
6. Is consistently interacting with residents, families, staff and/or government agencies.
7. Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the day, as well as to reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
8. Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc.
9. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
10. Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
11. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
12. Maintains a liaison with residents, families, and care planning teams to adequately plan for residents’ needs.

Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of orientation programs that orient newly hired personnel to their position, the facility’s policies and procedures, resident rights and responsibilities, etc.

Assist the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee in collecting, analyzing and developing an action plan related to educational or orientation needs. .

If the facility has a Nurse Aide Training Program, assist the administrator in developing the Nurse Aide Training curriculum used by the facility. Submit to state agency as required.
