Job Summary:
The Head of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the cleanliness, organization, and overall presentation of the hotel. This role involves managing the housekeeping team, coordinating daily operations, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and guest service to enhance satisfaction. Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role is required. Bilingual Spanish/English candidates are preferred to effectively manage a diverse team and guest base.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise housekeeping staff, ensuring optimal team performance.
- Develop and implement staff schedules to maintain adequate coverage.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, providing feedback and support as needed.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, public area maintenance, and laundry services.
- Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with hotel standards.
- Ensure timely reporting and resolution of maintenance issues.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, linen, and amenities, placing orders as necessary.
Customer Service:
- Address guest concerns and requests promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the front desk and other departments to meet guest expectations and enhance satisfaction.
- Develop strategies to continuously improve housekeeping services and guest experiences.
Budget & Compliance:
- Prepare and manage the housekeeping department budget, monitoring costs and identifying opportunities for efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as hotel policies and standards.
- Conduct regular training sessions on cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a housekeeping leadership or supervisory role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
- Language Skills: Bilingual Spanish/English preferred to effectively manage a diverse team and guest base.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position; availability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible hours required.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and lifting light to moderate loads.
