We are currently seeking a Director of Facilities to join our enthusiastic team at The Hearth at Drexel!
The Hearth at Drexel is a premier retirement community in Bala Cynwyd, PA. We take pride in our dedicated team members who support and care for our residents.
Shift/Schedule Available:
- 8:00am - 4:00pm
Some job responsibilities include:
- Responsible to develop policies and procedures to guide the operations of Maintenance, Housekeeping/Laundry, and Security. Review daily assignment schedules to include established routine duties as well as special duties.
- Responsible to develop departmental budgets and maintain compliance with the budget plans.
- Develop and monitor capital needs of community.
- Tour the facility regularly. Observe employees to ensure proper work habits and compliance with appropriate safety standards. Determine that instructions are followed and safety rules are observed.
- Plan and direct staff training on supplies and equipment.
- Schedule work orders and repairs on a priority basis in cooperation with all departments.
- Ensure inspection of all equipment periodically to determine preventive maintenance needs as per preventive maintenance plans.
- Help promote the mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation that are needed for the success of The Hearth.
- Provide oversight of capital projects/project management and oversight of contactors.
- Manage contracts and agreements as they pertains to facilities (Excludes creating or signing contracts).
- Ensure that charges are recorded for all extra services requested by residents that pertain to maintenance, items. Ensure information is sent to the Finance Department in a timely manner.
- Oversee the maintenance of inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Review and update departmental procedures.
- Chair the Hearth Disaster Committee.
- Attend various meetings as required including: Safety, Steering team and the Management Team; serve on various teams and committees as requested.
- Supervise the maintaining of records which give a repair history for equipment and the preparing of records of equipment repairs made for each department.
- Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as discharges, disciplinary actions, employment, transfers and/or terminations in consultation with the Human Resources Department when needed.
- Requisition supplies, replacement parts, and equipment as needed.
- Assist with directing or assigning contractors engaged in maintaining the buildings and building systems.
- Chair of the Safety Committee
- Serve on-call for weekends along with other Management Team members.
Education and Experience:
- Three (3) years’ paid work experience at the supervisory or managerial level which includes experience managing multi-department staffs and operations, one year of which should involve the management of a physical plant or facility.
- Have a general knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Housekeeping, Laundry, Security, and general maintenance.
