Executive Director – Behavioral Health & Recovery Services
West Milford, NJ | Full-Time | On-Site
Are you a proven leader with the ability to inspire, execute, and create impact in a mission-driven environment?
At The Hope Institute, we believe in second chances, structure, and the power of purpose. We’re not just treating symptoms — we’re rebuilding lives. And we’re looking for a leader who can do the same for our team and facility.
About the Role:
We’re seeking an Executive Director who can seamlessly bridge clinical insight with operational expertise. You’ll serve as the top leader overseeing day-to-day operations, staff management, regulatory compliance, and culture-building — while working closely with ownership to shape strategy and drive results.
This role is ideal for someone who can confidently navigate between business and behavioral health — someone who leads from the front, holds the line with accountability, and motivates others through consistency and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of our residential and outpatient treatment programs.
- Lead, manage, and support clinical, medical, and administrative staff.
- Ensure compliance with NJ state regulations (DMHAS, DCA, DOH) and accreditation standards.
- Maintain high standards of safety, documentation, and client care.
- Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and mission alignment.
- Identify and solve operational issues swiftly and effectively.
- Collaborate with ownership on program growth, strategy, and financial goals.
- Represent the organization in audits, inspections, and with external stakeholders.
- Respond to critical incidents and support staff through high-stress situations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in executive leadership within behavioral health, substance use, or healthcare settings.
- Deep understanding of NJ regulatory frameworks and program compliance.
- Strong leadership and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to build and maintain trust across teams.
- Ability to implement structure, hold staff accountable, and lead by example.
- Clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LCADC, or similar) is strongly preferred but not required.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s in Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
What You Bring:
- A steady hand under pressure and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- The ability to balance compassion with boundaries.
- High standards, excellent communication skills, and a deep belief in our mission.
- A reputation for getting things done — with integrity and urgency.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Health benefits, PTO, and potential for performance-based incentives
- A leadership team that values your input and supports your growth
- A culture of grit, purpose, and change
