FT Evenings/Weekends
Basic Function/Overall Responsibilities: To provide a safe, healthy environment that supports acquisition and utilization of pro-social skills for youth residing in the HGS Pivot residential program. Direct Care workers provide guidance and coaching in behavior choices to youth by teaching coping, social, and vocational skills. Individuals in direct care positions may be required to work irregular hours, including nights, evenings, and weekends.
Principal Assigned Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that the facility is a safe, comfortable, and secure environment for staff, visitors, youth and families.
2. Supervise youth in their daily routine in accordance with agency policy and procedures as well as any individual Enhanced Supervision Plans.
3. Participate in the implementation of ongoing activity programs for youth in care as specified on the recreational calendar.
4. Maintain a safe, clean and homelike environment for children. This includes competing any household chores as assigned.
5. Manage all behaviors problems in a manner that reflects the agency's Sanctuary philosophy, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, and agency policy and procedure.
6. Provide feedback regarding Individualized Crisis Management Plans and individualized treatment plans. Implement these plans as defined by the youths Primary Therapist/treatment team.
7. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and regular supervision.
8. Ensure completion of all written documentation as defined by program and agency policy and procedure.
9. Ensure that all program and agency policies and procedures are followed.
10. Participate in professional development trainings as assigned by supervisor.
11. Successfully complete all required agency trainings as defined by program and agency policy.
12. Successfully complete Van Certification training in order to transport youth on recreational outings and visitation.
13. Other related tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor.
14. Rotate between units and cover employee vacations or other leave time.
15. Assume shift supervisor responsibilities in the absence of the shift supervisor or program supervisor.
16. Ensure medication is passed as outlined in agency policy.
17. Ensure meals and snacks are prepared and served as scheduled.
Relationships-Supervision and Coordination: Direct Care Workers are under the direct supervision of the Program Supervisor assigned to the program and have regular supervision with that individual. Direct
Care Workers must maintain a good working relationship with all program, clinical and support staff associated with the assigned work location. Direct Care staff are representatives of the program and agency while interfacing with youth's families and are expected to maintain positive and professional working relationships with those individuals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Minimum high school or equivalency diploma required; some higher education preferred.
2. Experience working with juvenile justice involved youth highly desirable; sufficient maturity to work with and relate to youth required.
3. Valid New York State driver's license.
