Cultivation Technician

Cultivation techs will report directly to the Production Manager. The Cultivation Technician job will largely consist of farming and landscaping. The Cultivation Technician Supports all aspects of grow operations by monitoring lighting, feeding, plant maintenance and equipment maintenance and installation. The Cultivation Technician should have a desire to learn best grow practices. The cultivation technician will need to weigh and grade trimmed bud for curing/processing/packaging. Additionally, the Cultivation Technician must be capable of using product tracking software to remain in compliance with state issued standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Production Manager to plan for growing activities that are consistent with planned production schedules.
  • Prepare grow space for planting and ensure that all spaces are clean and free of fungi, mildew, mold and various pests.
  • Prepare grow areas including; transporting grow pots to growing areas, filling grow pots with soil, transplanting plants into grow pots, setting up irrigation lines, watering and feeding plants, and labeling plants.
  • Monitor growing conditions and reviews changes in humidity, moisture and temperature as well as cultivation procedures to ensure conformance with quality control standards.
  • Inspects crop features such as leaf texture, coloration, bloom size and for the existence of pests or disease
  • Work with IPM manager to execute pest and disease control
  • Work with inventory manager for inventory data input
  • Cloning: cutting clones from mother stock, rooting clones in nursery, monitoring and maintaining clones to vegetative stages of plant growth
  • Harvesting: cutting plants; trimming plants; removing flowering tops; weighing and inventory data input into the electronic inventory tracking system.
  • Curing: hanging and dry-racking flower; monitoring curing process and climate control; labeling; weighing, and inventory data input.
  • Operate and maintain cultivation systems/equipment: monitor, calibrate, run and maintain lighting, irrigation, climate control and other cultivation systems; stock and handle production input and supplies; sanitize and clean growing areas, cultivation workspaces, and tools
  • Ensure daily compliance with policies and procedures including but not limited to state compliance, security protocols, and access protocols
  • Any other tasks assigned by Management.

Physical Requirements of the Job: VERY LABOR INTENSIVE. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 25 pounds, may include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching as well as repetitive motions. Moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Must be able to safely operate farming machinery such as farm vehicles, trimming fans and handheld trimmers, as well as maintenance equipment such as weed whackers, hoes, etc.

Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check – certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations. There will be no drugs or alcohol on or consumed on The Human Connection or any of their client’s property. Intoxication or the act of consuming drugs or alcohol is prohibited before and during your working shift.

Job Qualifications:

  • Coursework in agricultural sciences preferred
  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Capacity to work outdoors for long hours.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to perform labor intensive landscaping work.
  • Experience in growing technologies, such as lights, irrigation, soil, nutrients, and more
  • Ability to execute growing techniques consistently.
  • Good documentation, inventory, and organization skills.
  • Basic weights and measurement skills, ability to operate a scale.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A great attitude and teamwork mentality
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

***We are a start-up a few months into our company, and we are looking for someone who wants to learn and grow with us. We also have farm dogs on site!

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
