The Jed Foundation (JED) is now accepting applications for the Fall 2025 cohort of the Texas Mental Health Youth Advocacy Coalition (YAC) Fellowship.
The YAC Fellowship brings together young mental health advocates across the state of Texas in a brave space to drive change through education, policy advocacy, media, and storytelling.
This six-week hybrid, paid fellowship trains undergraduate students in mental health advocacy and community outreach. Fellows receive a structured curriculum, expert mentorship, and paid compensation to develop and launch their own strategic advocacy plans.
Fellows will present their work at JED’s Annual Policy Summit in Washington, D.C. and continue their advocacy throughout the 2025–2026 academic year.

- “Why are you interested in joining the Texas Youth Advocacy Coalition?
- "What mental health advocacy policies or initiatives at the campus, local, state, and/or federal levels do you hope to pursue through this program?”
- Program Dates: September 15 – October 24 (Virtual, 16 hours per week)
- Summit Travel: October 14–15 in Washington, D.C. (In-person, required)
- JED will provide travel and lodging for D.C. events for all selected fellows.
- Applications OPEN: Monday, August 4, 2025
- Applications CLOSE: Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET (the system will automatically close at this time)
- Applicants will be notified: Early September 2025
- Fellows must be permanent residents of Texas and actively enrolled in a Texas-based college or university as an undergraduate student for the 2025–2026 academic year.
- Fellows must be available to travel to Washington, D.C. October 14-15, 2025 for JED’s annual Policy Summit. Please note this aspect of the Fellowship is mandatory for both days. *JED will provide travel and lodging for all selected fellows.*
