What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Year Internships position at The Jewish Museum?
The Jewish Museum is hosting paid part-time internships during the academic year for undergraduate and graduate students in the NYC area. Interns will work a flexible hybrid schedule, both remote and onsite at the Museum, for the equivalent of two days per week from October 2023 thru May 2024, including a winter break and flexible scheduling around other holidays. The available department positions are listed below. In addition to the department-specific work, there will be scheduled programs in which interns will connect as a group and learn about work happening at the Museum in discussion with staff from various departments.

Departments:
-Collections Management: Conduct research for objects in the collection, recording cataloging and data-cleanup in the Museum's collections database, The Museum System (TMS); update and edit metadata; help identify and tag works in the collection with searchable keywords.
-Curatorial: Research specific topics in art; organize visual material; create and maintain checklists and exhibition documents/presentations; assist with generation and editing of exhibition texts.
-Development: Focus on a special research project on the history of the Jewish Museum, the Warburg family, and the Warburg Mansion (home of the Museum); general research and support across the Development Department; and learn about various museum fundraising strategies.
-Public Programs: Assist with planning and implementation of public and academic programs for adult audiences, including in-person events on select Thursday evenings; learn about museum teaching; help with research and outreach for exhibition programs.
