Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Human Resources and Payroll Specialist to support and advance our HR functions. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who is passionate about compliance, employee engagement, process improvement, and supporting company leadership. You will play a key role in maintaining HR systems, administering payroll, developing policies, and fostering a high-performing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures in alignment with company goals.
- Create and update HR forms and internal process documentation.
- Conduct an annual review and update of the Employee Handbook to reflect current labor laws and company practices.
- Monitor regulatory changes in employment law and recommend policy updates to maintain compliance.
- Collaborate with leadership to streamline HR and payroll processes and implement system efficiencies.
- Prepare and present HR reporting metrics for management review (e.g., turnover, headcount, compliance deadlines, benefit participation).
- Guide employees on the use of HRIS, payroll, and benefit portals; ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Administer bi-weekly payroll using Microsoft Dynamics GP and Paycor; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage annual open enrollment, coordinating with benefit vendors to secure optimal plans and rates.
- Assist with recruitment efforts including job postings, interviews, and onboarding.
- Support employee relations and performance management processes.
- Provide HR and payroll support to the CFO and Controller, as needed.
- Participate in the development and delivery of employee training programs.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of HR and payroll experience; prior experience with Paycor or Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and best HR practices.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively and confidentially.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) @ Corporate Office in Williamsburg, VA
