Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Floater to join our team. This role is essential in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education and a commitment to supporting the developmental needs of children. You will work closely with students, families, and staff to implement effective educational strategies that promote growth and learning.
Responsibilities
- Support Classroom Staff:
- Assist lead and assistant teachers with daily routines and activities.
- Step into classrooms as needed to maintain child-to-staff ratios.
- Supervise Children:
- Monitor children during play, meals, naps, and transitions.
- Ensure children are safe, engaged, and accounted for at all times.
- Maintain Cleanliness:
- Sanitize toys, tables, and classroom materials.
- Help with diaper changes, bathroom breaks, and general hygiene routines.
- Provide Break Coverage:
- Cover classrooms during teacher lunches and breaks.
- Maintain consistency and structure in each room visited.
- Assist During Meals & Snacks:
- Help serve and clean up after meals.
- Encourage healthy eating habits and good table manners.
- Engage Children in Activities:
- Lead or assist with group activities, art projects, and circle time when needed.
- Offer one-on-one attention to children as needed.
- Follow Safety & Licensing Guidelines:
- Adhere to all childcare licensing rules and center policies.
- Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to administration.
- Communicate with Staff:
- Share important information about children’s behavior, needs, or incidents.
- Maintain positive, professional communication with all team members.
- Help with Transitions:
- Support children as they move between activities or classrooms.
- Assist with arrival and dismissal routines as needed.
- Be Flexible & Reliable:
- Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and age groups (infants through preschool).
- Arrive on time and be ready to help wherever needed.
Qualifications
- Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field preferred.
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credential preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with young children in a licensed childcare setting preferred.
- Experience with age-appropriate curriculum planning is a plus.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of child development principles and best practices.
- Ability to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
- Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills.
- Familiarity with state childcare licensing regulations.
- Health & Safety Requirements:
- Must pass background check and fingerprinting.
- Up-to-date on required immunizations and TB test.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
