What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Kindergarten Teacher position at The Leffell School?
Our Lower School is seeking a Kindergarten General Studies teacher with a minimum of three years’ experience to begin in September 2024. The successful candidate will be a dynamic educator who excites and inspires students, creates a positive and appropriate classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is professionally collaborative, and communicates actively with parents and colleagues.
Job responsibilities include:
Teach early reading using Foundations, math, writing, and social studies skills.
Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities
select and use instructional methods and materials appropriate to the students and learning activities
encourage cooperative social behavior through games and activities
observe, evaluate, and record children's social and academic progress
In addition to working with students on content and skill areas, the team furthers our school’s mission by helping students to become responsible, honest, compassionate, and respectful citizens. Master’s degree in education preferred. Experience with the Singapore Math approach and Responsive Classroom is a plus.
