POSITION OVERVIEW:
Lightstone currently owns and manages a large portfolio of properties across multiple asset classes, including multi-family, hospitality, retail, industrial and life sciences. In this position, you will responsible for all accounting functions related to these properties. The Senior Property Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Director and assists in reviewing and maintaining the financial statements. Prior accounting experience, attention to detail and good communication skills are required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Senior Property Accountant will be assigned specific real estate properties and is responsible for the following accounting functions:
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements
• Analyze and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers
• Post journal entries for accrued expenses and revenue
• Maintain and record fixed assets
• Analyze revenue and expenses to ensure that they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis
• Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities and reconcile the intercompany receivables and payables
• Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
• Prepare internal financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
• Assist with budget and forecast preparation
• Coordination of annual audit and tax document preparation
• Projects as Assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4 years accounting experience;
• Real Estate/Property Accounting experience preferred but not required
• Accounting Degree required
• Extensive computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Familiarity with MRI or other real estate g/l software
• Strong analytical skills
• Self-starter
• Good team player
