We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Piping Systems possessing a strong ability to ensure successful project execution by taking technical engineering accountability for project deliverables. If you have a proven track record of advising clients on making the right decisions for their projects and are interested in gaining exposure in the energy transition sector (LNG, NGL, decarbonization, H2, ammonia, etc.) than this may be the right opportunity for you.  This position is critical to our success and will require a true expert in this space.

 

This role will report to the Managing Director and will be a pivotal part of the foundation of our growing team. This position can be based in our Seattle or Houston office.

 

What You Will Do

  • Lead mechanical design engineering, specification and selection of new or replacement equipment for piping systems
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on engineering issues including risk engineering, system integrity and application specifications adhering to relevant philosophies, codes and industry standards
  • Take engineering accountability for facility layouts which comply with DOT 49 CFR 193, NFPA 59a, and other relevant codes and standard
  • Take engineering accountability for the delivery of facility layouts, plot plans, mechanical orthographic, P&IDs, skid design packages
  • Manage internal and external engineering and CAD design resources to deliver complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Identify and close all technical gaps between the disciplines Mechanical, Civil, Structural Engineering disciplines
  • Develop specifications for mechanical rotating packaged equipment
  • Manage and take accountability for civil / structural design package through the use of external subcontracted firm
  • Accountable for integration of equipment into both custom skid packages and BOP / stick-built designs by working with design group
  • Work and communicate with project management team, including providing regular progress and schedule reporting
  • Assume engineering accountability and approval of subcontracted packaged equipment including technical accountability for sub-vendor scopes of supply for packaged equipment and equipment items


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science degree in mechanical, chemical engineering or related (required)
  • 8 years related offshore and onshore upstream, midstream, or LNG facility experience with engineering contractor (required)
  • Previous experience with Marine Loading Arms (MLA) highly preferred
  • Experience with LNG, NGL, cryogenic / natural gas processing facilities
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering small to medium size multi-disciplinary projects where you were directly accountable for identifying and closing technical gaps to exceed customer expectations
  • We are an engineering and EPC contractor- a career dedicated to engineering contracting and EPC project execution is required to be successful
  • Experience in a process industry setting in mechanical equipment engineering and an expertise in piping system design
  • Must be able to specify mechanical equipment through the development and completions of equipment datasheets, lists, etc. for columns, vessels, heaters, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, modulating and on/off control valves, ESD valves, hand valves specialty items, etc.
  • Experience developing and owning reports, creating and documenting, summary reports and PowerPoint slide decks (required) and leading customer review meetings
  • A proven ability to guide, coach and support the development of engineers, CAD designers, etc.  (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (required)
  • Ability to interact effectively with vendors and clients (approximately 50% of your work involves internal interaction - 50% external)
  • International experience - we execute work across the globe (beneficial)
  • Field experience including construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational support (beneficial)
  • Experience working with intelligent design systems such as Autocad plant 3D required
