The Louis D. Brandeis Center seeks an Advancement Officer – Foundations and Corporations to join its dynamic and growing development program.  The Advancement Officer – Foundation and Corporations will build relationships with new and existing foundations and corporations achieving tangible metrics and meeting annually established revenue goals. They will assume a robust portfolio of existing donors and support frontline officers in managing numerous family foundations. The Advancement Officer – Foundations and Corporations will report to the Chief Development Officer.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to increase foundation and corporate support, including prospect identification, cultivation plans, and solicitation timelines.
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and corporate prospects and donors, with responsibility for meeting or exceeding annual revenue goals.
  • Research and qualify new institutional funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead the preparation of high-quality letters of inquiry, grant proposals, concept papers, and budgets in collaboration with program and finance staff.
  • Ensure timely submission of all grant applications, renewals, and required interim and final reports.
  • Maintain a grants calendar and document all tasks and due dates in the development CRM
  • Translate complex programmatic and legal work into clear, compelling narratives for institutional audiences.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with foundation and corporate funders through meetings, briefings, site visits, and regular communications.  Support frontline officers in meeting deadlines.
  • Partner with senior leadership and board members to support institutional donor engagement and solicitations.
  • Develop tailored stewardship plans to ensure funder satisfaction, retention, and growth.
  • Work closely with program, legal, communications, and finance teams to align funding opportunities with organizational strategy and impact.
  • Track institutional fundraising activity in the organization’s CRM and ensure accurate recordkeeping and forecasting.
  • Contribute to advancement-wide planning, reporting, and best practices.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required and an advanced degree is preferred. 
  • 5 years of experience in development.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, practices, and daily operations within a development office.
  • Strong understanding of grant research, proposal writing, and reporting processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
  • A dynamic, collaborative demeanor with a great sense of humor.
  • Ability to problem solve with a positive, organized, team-oriented approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Brandeis Center for Human Rights.
  • Experience fundraising for human rights, civil rights, legal advocacy, or social justice organizations.
  • Proficiency with donor databases/CRMs and Microsoft Office 
  • Occasional travel may be required for donor meetings, conferences, and organizational events.
