The Catering Manager’s main function is to provide hands-on sales and service oversight for Banquet functions while maximizing revenue, meeting and exceeding budgeted goals and fulfilling an exceptional customer service experience. As a Mission Inn Catering Manager, one would solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat business via outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, networking, and other methods, while creating a positive experience for our repeat, new and prospective clients.

The successful candidate would:

1. Have a thorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of catering sales, food and beverage and hospitality professions.

2. Have a thorough knowledge of sales production and cost-effective selling

3. Exhibit effective communication skills

4. Have demonstrated experience in effectively negotiating contracts, terms and conditions, and pricing with vendors

5. Successfully influence and sell prospective professional and social guests.

6. Have a completed bachelor’s degree (preferred).

7. Have a minimum of 3 years as a Sales or Catering Manager.

8. Have a working knowledge of Delphi preferred.

9. Present themselves and the organization professionally

10. Have excellent time and priority management.

11. Have a positive can-do, attitude with the ability to deliver results.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set, meet and exceed assigned revenue goals

2. Maximize revenues and strategize sales efforts

3. Prepare and execute contracts

4. Solicit new business

5. Finalize food and beverage and meeting room setup requirements

6. Upgrade and upsell menus to achieve food and beverage cost

7. Master the forecast and budget, and maintain a strong understanding of the market and where the organization needs to fill business into open time periods

8. Full understanding of profit and flow through

9. Keep accurate and up-to-date records in the designated system]

10. Represent the organization at trade shows as well as other on or off-site events

11. Maintain a complete understanding of catering sales standard operating procedures and ensure adherence to these guidelines

12. Establish and maintain customer contact at all functions

13. Recommend and identify innovative ideas, methods and markets for business growth, development, and a positive impact on the team and the organization.

14. Consistently maintain a professional business appearance, demeanor, and level of communication.

15. Promote an environment of trust, honesty, and comradery within the organization.

16. Ensure a positive experience for our customers.

17. Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned or as related to the expected deliverables.

Physical Requirements:

· Use of a computer and keyboard to generate various work-related documents

· Frequently sitting

· Ability to concentrate and remain focused in busy environments

· Ability to freely navigate a venue, including stairs and uneven pavement.

· Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds

· Handling objects, files, equipment and materials for events or tradeshows, etc.

Additional Requirements:

· Communication skills are utilized constantly when interacting with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

· Reading, writing and grammatical abilities constantly utilized.

· Mathematical skills, including basic math are used frequently.

· Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.

· Fluent in English. Bilingual in Spanish, helpful but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Sales or Catering management: 3 years (Required)
  • Delphi software: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Contract negotiation: 1 year (Preferred)
