Middle School Science Teacher
The Neighborhood Academy is seeking a full time Middle School Science Teacher beginning August 2022.
Primary Purpose:
1. Teach one section of 6th grade Earth Science
2. Teach two sections of Life Science or two sections of Physical Science on a rotating basis (7th and 8th grade sections have the same, alternating, course each year)

Nature and Scope:
1. Provide classroom instruction, including (but not limited to): integrate a variety of teaching methods including lecture, demonstration, audiovisual aids, individual practice and other materials; prepare course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and school standards.
2. Guide 6th, 7th and 8th grade students through the completion of a project for our yearly Science Fair.
3. Manage classroom and school behavior and attendance for a safe and optimal learning environment, including monitoring student behavior at meals, during class transitions, and outside of the school building.
4. Serve as a proctor and monitor after school study hours one day per week, in accordance with the established rotational schedule.
5. Service as a sponsor or advisor to one afterschool activity, for at least one eight week season each school year.
6. Serve as an Advisor for a set group of students to include (but not limited to): counsel students with adjustment and academic problems; and assist with mastering executive functioning skills.
7. Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
8. Attend non-denominational daily worship.
9. Perform other duties as assigned and outlined in the auxiliary description of faculty positions.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidate must possess at least the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Science, or related field.
- Prior high school teaching experience (student teaching as part of a certificate or degree program is acceptable).
- An active PA public or private teaching license in any related science subject (elementary 4-8, middle level 7-9, or secondary 7-12), or the ability and willingness to acquire one in the future.
- Note: the position includes grades 6-8, but the candidate’s license does not need to cover all three grades; secondary or elementary certificates are welcome).

- Salary minimum: $45,000, with increases commiserate with prior experience and degrees
