Metairie, LA Full Time
POSTED ON 1/28/2026 CLOSED ON 3/28/2026

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Communications and Community Engagement Manager position at The New Orleans Firemen's FCU?

NOFFCU is looking for a Communications & Community Engagement Manager to join our team. The details of the job are as follows:

The Role

This is not a traditional communications job.

We are seeking a Communications & Community Engagement Manager who is equal parts storyteller, relationship-builder, and internal culture champion. This role leads our corporate communications while playing a vital role in strengthening employee engagement, trust, and connection across the credit union.

You will help tell our story — externally to the communities we serve and internally to the employees who live our mission every day. You will partner closely with leadership, collaborate across teams, and serve as a visible advocate for our people.

If you believe culture matters, communication builds trust, and service is a responsibility — not a slogan — this role is for you.

What You’ll Do

Lead Corporate & Internal Communications

  • Develop and execute thoughtful, mission-aligned communication plans that reinforce our values and organizational goals.
  • Own and manage the communications calendar, ensuring clarity, consistency, and coordination across departments.
  • Strengthen internal communications so employees feel informed, connected, and respected — not just communicated to.
  • Support executive communications, partnering closely with the President & CEO to deliver messages that are transparent, timely, and rooted in trust.

Serve as Marketing & Brand Liaison

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external marketing partners and vendors, ensuring consistency and a unified member and employee experience.
  • Coordinate marketing and communications requests across departments, helping teams clarify goals, priorities, and timelines.

Tell Our Story

  • Write and edit compelling content across channels, capturing the real stories of our employees, members, and community impact.
  • Manage the credit union’s organic social media presence, highlighting authentic moments that reflect service, teamwork, and care for others.

Support Community Engagement

  • Partner with Community Development and Advocacy teams to extend our reach and amplify our impact in the communities we serve.
  • Support branch events, sponsorships, and volunteer initiatives — always with an eye toward connection, service, and storytelling.

Champion Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Serve as the credit union’s internal cheerleader, fostering pride, engagement, and a strong sense of belonging across all locations.
  • Develop initiatives that encourage employee involvement, recognition, and alignment with our mission and values.
  • Manage and promote the Leadership Library, including:
  • Curating leadership and professional-development resources
  • Communicating available materials and learning opportunities
  • Encouraging continuous growth and leadership development
  • Coordinate and support employee food pantries at each location, ensuring:
  • Discreet, dignified access to food resources for employees and their families
  • Clear communication so employees know support is available
  • Collaboration with internal teams and community partners as appropriate
  • Help reinforce a family-first culture, where employees know they are supported during both professional and personal challenges.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to communicate with warmth, clarity, and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.
  • A relationship-oriented mindset built on trust, accountability, and teamwork.
  • A genuine passion for service and for supporting the people behind the mission.
  • Bonus: Experience working in a credit union or mission-driven organization.
