Associate Librarian

The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks an Associate Librarian for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Library Associate supports the daily function of the school’s two libraries. The Associate Librarian performs a variety of functions, assisting librarians, faculty, staff, and students in the full use of library services. The Library Associate splits their time between the two Nightingale libraries, supervising both the Lower School Library and Middle/Upper School Library and maintains an appropriate atmosphere for each space. Daily duties in each space may include circulation of materials, shelving, helping users locate resources, and completing library-related clerical tasks. Faculty at Nightingale are extended a one-year agreement; if employment is renewed, associates are able to remain in the role for a maximum of two years.


 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

Administrative

  • Perform circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, maintaining patron records, overdue notices, etc.
  • Process, withdraws, repairs, or reconditions library materials
  • Shelve library materials and reads shelves
  • Maintain the organization of the library collection and space

Educational/Pedagogical

  • Assist with library programs and displays
  • Assist students with reference questions and readers’ advisory
  • Support the Lower School Librarian during library classes
  • Supervise students in the library


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Students currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Science are encouraged to apply
  • Experience working in a K-12 environment is preferred
  • Experience using LibGuides, databases, NoodleTools, and Google Suite 
  • Must be analytical and possess a strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written

Salary 

$55,000
