The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. At Northwest we aim to hire coaches who:
- Have a strong technical and strategic understanding of the game

- Relate well with players and build rapport

Essential Functions:
- Support the head coach in all aspects of coaching the team and program.
- Generate enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork among students.
- Teach fundamentals, techniques, and skills, utilizing encouraging and developmentally-appropriate methods.
- Prioritize the health and safety of the athletes.
- Model respectful interaction with athletes, opponents, colleagues, and parents.
- Develop and support sportsmanship and leadership in the program and the athletes.
- Strive to win while pursuing and promoting the bigger picture of fun, dedication, accountability, and teamwork.
- Daily availability during the season from mid-afternoon for practices and competitions and on weekends as needed.
- Understand and adhere to NWS Athletics and WIAA/NFHS sport rules and regulations.
- Current training in First Aid, CPR, concussion management, and sudden cardiac arrest.
- Clear Washington State Background check.
- Supervise and instruct sport-specific skills and techniques and related aspects of fitness, health, nutrition, sleep, etc.), utilizing positive and age-appropriate methods.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially those related to diversity and the environment.
Expertise and experience coaching the sport at the high school or collegiate level and possess a strong technical and strategic understanding of the game.
Current training in First Aid, CPR, concussion management, and sudden cardiac arrest.
Be an energetic self-starter in addressing all details of leading a thriving high school program.
Compensation/Details: Competitive coaching stipend, based on experience.
This is a stipend only position.
Availability: In-season coaching duties are expected to begin February 15 and continue through April 4, though they are subject to change.
