Position Summary
The Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit. This role ensures high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and effective communication with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the assigned nursing unit
Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff including RNs, LPNs, and STNAs
Ensure delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care
Monitor and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including Ohio Department of Health requirements)
Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings
Conduct rounds to monitor resident status and address clinical concerns
Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
Review and audit documentation for accuracy and completeness
Manage staffing assignments and assist with scheduling as needed
Provide clinical guidance and education to staff
Address resident and family concerns promptly and professionally
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Current Ohio RN or LPN license in good standing
Previous long-term care experience required
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment
CPR certification required
