Scope of Position
The Central Sterile Supply & Materials Supervisor is responsible for developing systems to support supply acquisition, inventory control, for supervising Central Sterile Processing for The Ohio State University Jameson Crane Outpatient Surgery Center & for acting as a purchasing liaison with other OSU Ambulatory Department Surgery sites. They will teach and supervise instrument processing, manage central processing, decontamination, sterilization & materials.
Position Summary
The Sterile Supply & Materials Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that sterile supplies and equipment are processed according to JCAHO & AAMI standards and in accordance with the manufacturer?s recommendations for processing. The supervisor is responsible for assuring that the department achieves the set quality standards for the department, which includes maintaining the instrument tracking system and appropriate record keeping.
The Sterile Supply & Materials Supervisor is responsible for managing the supply and inventory process. Responsibilities include; tracking inventory and supply PAR levels, creating cost saving strategies, developing cost savings tactics, & maintaining patient care equipment.
The Jameson Crane Outpatient Surgery Center Sterile Supply & Materials Supervisor will serve as a supply & materials liaison for the various departments and vendors servicing the Jameson Crane Sports Med Institute. They will maintain a working knowledge of and coordinate the interactions for the Peoplesoft Material Management Information (PS) System. They will generate and edit purchase orders for the OSC Perioperative and Central Sterile Supply (CSS) Departments. They will coordinate special projects and will assist the Nurse Manager in resolving issues impacting service for the Outpatient Surgery Center. They will secure purchase information (ie quotes) and will provide relevant information to the OSC Director during budgetary preparation.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in health care or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
required. Previous experience in instrument processing and sterilization experience in perioperative services required.
Current or pending within 6 months, CBSPD Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution or IAHCSMM
International Association of Health Care Central Services Management.
