The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is seeking a Dental Billing Claims Specialist for its affiliated Dental Faculty Practice (DFP). When our faculty is not teaching the next generation of dentists or hygienists, our faculty dentists and faculty hygienist provide expert care for children and adults through DFP. Our dentists provide virtually every area of dental care available. The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
Serves as Treatment Coordinator/Billing Specialist for the Dental Faculty Practice with the College of Dentistry: performs insurance predetermination of benefits, validates insurance coverage and preauthorizations; discuss treatment plans and payment arrangements with patients; primarily enters dental coding but occasionally cross codes to medical; bills medical/dental carriers, appeals claims and collection functions; serves as liaison between doctors, patients and payers. This position will be responsible for a group providers' A/R including timely filing appealing accounts and processing accounts according to the department policy. Assist in coverage of the check in desk from assisting with answering more complex questions to coverage during vacancies.

Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
Compensation
$18.17 - $23.90/hour
Position Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment and the employee in this class is subject to inside environmental conditions. This position requires sustained periods using a keyboard and performing other computer work. Requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
Required: Minimum 6 months experience in a healthcare cash-posting environment. Proficiency with computers and related software. Efficiency with 10 key calculator. Excellent interpersonal, very and written communication skills.
Desired: Highly desired 3-5 years' experience in a dental office working with a variety of dental specialties. Ability to deal with problems involving insurance; strong customer service skills; basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication. Able to work in a fast paced and with a variety of providers.
