The Muck Crops Research Station is an “outlying branch” of The Ohio State University which conducts scientific research in the areas of plant pathology, entomology and weed science. The student assistant will help research station staff with all aspects of commercial vegetable production, as well as facility maintenance. Work activities include all aspects of planting, maintaining and harvesting of assorted vegetable crops; specific work tasks include the layout and flagging of trial plots, direct-sowing and transplanting seedlings, fertilizing, weeding, watering, collecting soil and plant samples, weighing and grading produce, recording data, data entry and record keeping; operating agricultural equipment (18 years old), operating mowers and grounds equipment; cleaning and maintaining work areas, and other duties as assigned.
