Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist students to learn, accommodate, and perform their work duties. In addition to working on skills related to performing specific job tasks, help with interpersonal skills necessary in the work place.

- Facilitate learning in the area of social and life skills.
- Communicates effectively with teachers, supervisor and local business.
- Develop effective job coaching and employment plans.
- Utilize assessments to help student’s discover their individual needs and goals.
- Encourages continued student engagement without disrupting classroom instructions
- Encourages students to make choices appropriate to work and school environment.
- Demonstrates ability to manage student behavior during working situations.
- Develops awareness of each student’s special needs.
- Demonstrates consistent awareness for each student’s safety and whereabouts.
- Assists in maintaining required transitional plans.
- Works in collaboration with teacher and principal regarding school projects and students needs.
- Utilizes knowledge and skills related to crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation in order to provide a safe environment for students, visitors and staff.
- Will work on residential and/or inpatient units when school is not in session (i.e., holidays, breaks, summer, etc.). This may include working a shift other than a day shift as well as working weekend shifts.
