JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State University Libraries are currently accepting applications for a Student Engagement and Outreach Assistant. The selected candidate should expect to:
Assist with the development of programming to support the Leisure Reading collection, as well as the ongoing maintenance of the Leisure Reading room and collections, to include:
Collaborating with coworkers to plan, implement and assess the Leisure Reading collection (both physical and digital collections);
Helping to plan and run programming throughout the year that supports the Leisure Reading collection;
Developing and maintaining multiple book displays and digital bookshelves;
Record maintenance and input on title selections.
Assist in providing outreach programming as needed, to include:
Supporting the planning, implementation, and assessment efforts of various outreach initiatives;
Advising on associated marketing efforts;
Event attendance and support;
Examples of events include tours, orientations, resource fairs, open houses, De-Stress Fests, wellbeing initiatives, etc.
Assist with Libraries classroom maintenance to include:
supporting Library Learning Services in creating and managing student-centered learning spaces (classrooms and sensory room);
supervising classroom whiteboard cleaning, supplies, cleaning and restocking schedules.
Additional applicant requirements include:
A general knowledge of Penn State and the Libraries
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
High degree of reliability
Windows/Microsoft Office/Internet competence
Work Days: Various (generally M-F, core days to be established)
Work Hours: Various (generally 8-5, core hours to be established)
Number of Hours: 15 hrs./week
May require some evening hours for event support.
