What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floral Department Manager position at The Perfect Petal?

Floral Operations & Logistics Manager — Weddings Large-Scale Events

$26–$34/hr | Denver, CO | In-Person

The Perfect Petal, Denver’s award-winning Top of the Town Floral Creative Team, is hiring a Floral Operations & Logistics Manager to lead the behind-the-scenes execution of weddings, corporate installs, and high-volume seasonal events.

This role is for someone who has lived inside the floral world—freelancing, designing, producing, or running their own studio—and understands the why behind stem counts, hardgood pull sheets, box selection, hydration windows, and van maps.

This is not an entry-level florist role. This is floral operations leadership.

ABOUT THE ROLE HOURS ARC

  • Begins immediately at part-time to full time (up to 32 hrs/week) through April 2025
  • May–December 2025: transitions to full-time, with expected OT during peak wedding and holiday season
  • Includes occasional hands-on build/design work (small personals, batching, last-minute fixes) during crunch windows—because strong ops leadership is rooted in understanding the physical workflow and real-world constraints of product and time

THE WORK ITSELF

You are the operational brain and the backstage standard-setter.

You ensure that all supplies, vessels, props, fabrication items, and event elements are accurately sourced, pulled, labeled, loaded, delivered, and returned—so installation days are smooth, calm, and beautiful.

When our Directors sell and concept events, you own the execution arc.

You facilitate communication between designers, warehouse staff, drivers, set/strike crews, Directors, and leadership. You know when to lead, when to support, and when to adapt.

This role requires high emotional intelligence. Vulnerability, compassion, curiosity, and clear communication are requirements—not bonuses. We coach and lead inside our core values.

WHO THRIVES HERE (EXAMPLES)

  • A floral freelancer ready to step into strategic operations leadership
  • A former floral studio owner seeking stability and excellent events without carrying full overhead
  • A lead designer who always wrote the pack sheets, fixed the van maps, repaired broken systems, and loved improving efficiency

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee event supply ordering and sourcing
  • Create detailed checklists and pull sheets for every wedding/event
  • Manage inventory tracking and prop budgets
  • Coordinate light contracting and vendor relationships
  • Schedule processing, design, set/strike crews, and drivers
  • Schedule, assign, and retrieve company vehicles
  • Relay invoices to accounting daily
  • Lead daily micro-production meetings with Ops staff
  • Maintain warehouse organization, flow, and upkeep
  • Serve as subject matter expert on inventory and operations
  • Identify and implement process improvements (with approval)
  • Support pre-planning, load-in, event-day coordination, and load-out

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in floral, event production, or related field (floral strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage and direct crews
  • Excellent communication and follow-through
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Critical thinker with proactive problem-solving ability
  • Comfortable managing budgets and spend
  • Works well independently and collaboratively
  • Self-starter with high personal accountability

ESSENTIALS

  • Must live in the Denver Metro area and work onsite at our warehouse (6425 Washington St)
  • Strong desire to lead in floral operations
  • Passion for creative events and operational excellence
  • Willingness to receive feedback, iterate, and grow

TYPE, PAY BENEFITS

  • Heavy Part-Time through April → Full-Time May–December (OT expected)
  • Pay: $26–$34.00 per hour
  • 80 hours paid vacation after 3 months (accrual)
  • Health / Dental / Vision insurance options after 3 months
  • 401(k) after 3 months
  • Employee discounts
  • Professional development assistance
  • Relocation assistance
