Rainbow Experience Preschool is thrilled to announce a joint venture with Baldwin City Economic Development to expand our childcare services. For over 60 years, Rainbow has proudly served Baldwin City as a not-for-profit childcare center. Our mission is to provide affordable, high-quality, and sustainable childcare, ensuring our community thrives and addressing the longstanding needs of young families.
This expansion includes a new facility with an anticipated grand opening in 2027.
Position Overview
The Director will lead the planning and launch of this new facility and then oversee its daily operations. This is a unique opportunity to shape a program from the ground up and make a lasting impact on families in Baldwin City.
Key Responsibilities
· Collaborate with the Rainbow Board and project committee to ensure successful facility opening.
· Oversee licensing and regulatory compliance for infant/toddler care.
· Recruit, hire, and train staff to deliver exceptional care and education.
· Lead the planning, selection, and installation of furnishings and equipment for the new infant care facility to create a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.
· Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and programming.
· Establish operational policies, procedures, and safety standards.
· Manage day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, enrollment, and family engagement.
· Maintain compliance with all state and local regulations.
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative environment for children, families, and staff.
· Monitor program quality and implement continuous improvement strategies.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field is preferred.
· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or administrative role.
· Strong knowledge of infant/toddler development and best practices.
· Familiarity with Kansas licensing requirements and accreditation standards.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to build strong relationships with families, staff, and community partners.
· Must meet director qualification requirements as outlined by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
