What are the responsibilities and job description for the Harmony in Motion Volunteer Instructor position at The Riverside Church?
Location: The Riverside Church in the City of New York (New York, NY)
Reports to: Associate Director of Faith Formation for Children and Families
Department: Education
Schedule: Sundays, 1:00pm – 3:00pm (except for first Sundays)
Salary Range: Unpaid
Date: Present – June 15, 2025
Job Summary:
- Teach children in kindergarten to 6th grade how to play piano, percussion, guitar, and/or ukulele.
- Conduct engaging and interactive lessons that foster creativity and musical expression.
- Create fun musical activities to ignite children’s passion for music and cultivate a lifelong love for the art form.
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and/or Associate Director in providing musical instruction.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in playing piano, percussion, guitar, and/or ukulele.
- Ability to work creatively with children and adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs.
- Successful completion of a drug test and a background check
