The Salem Pantry (TSP) works collaboratively to empower our diverse local and regional communities by ensuring the essential right to convenient and reliable access to healthy food. As an agency of The Greater Boston Food Bank, we provide the North Shore with convenient access to fresh, free, healthy food through an innovative public mobile market, home deliveries, and a brick-and-mortar storefront, The Market. The Market Associate position play a key role in providing reliable access to food in Salem’s Point neighborhood.
The Position
The Salem Pantry is seeking a part-time Market Associate to assist with store operations. This position reports to the Assistant Manager. The Market Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to greeting, checking in, and registering guests, unloading pallets with various types of food items, stocking various items in the store, checking out guests, and assisting in cleaning the facility. The Market Associate will assist in maintaining a clean, friendly, well-stocked store that provides a dignified shopping experience for TSP pantry guests. The weekly schedule will be coordinated with the store manager and may adjust periodically to align with any shifts in TSP’s programming.
Responsibilities
- Greet, check in/out, and register guests.
- Stock shelves, freezers, and refrigerators. Restock from the stockroom as necessary.
- Clean the store prior to opening and after store closing.
- As needed, assist with tasks in the TSP warehouse or at a mobile market.
Qualifications The qualified candidate will:
- Be bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Be able to work Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 am to 2 pm
- Have the ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds.
- Have access to reliable transportation to The Market.
Compensation
This position will pay $18 an hour. An average work week will be 18 to 26 hours, with additional hours available over holidays and during the Summer but will not exceed 30 hours per week.
