What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?
Position Summary: The Custodian performs routine and general cleaning, maintaining assigned area(s) to meet staff, clients, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Clean and dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces including windows, doors, desks, shelves, intake vents, tables, chairs, and cabinets
- Maintain clean carpets by detailed vacuuming, spot removal and shampooing
- Perform hard surface care for tile, concrete, tabletops, drinking fountains, and counters including buffing, sweeping, washing, polishing, spot removal and disinfecting.
- Perform spot cleaning for walls, light switches, and doors as needed
- Service and sanitize restrooms by cleaning floors, bathtubs, showers, sinks, urinals, toilets, and mirrors
- Ensure cleanliness of kitchen counters, sinks, appliances, and floors
- Empty trash and recycle receptacles; replace liners as needed
- Assist with program space set up as directed (tables, chairs, etc.)
- Monitor and report maintenance repairs
- Organize cleaning supplies
- Maintain outdoor property as needed
- Assist with building repairs as needed, such as painting, moving furniture or plumbing
- Clean and maintain grease trap monthly and reporting the findings to the officers (if applicable)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
- Driving donations to the thrift store
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED preferred or, any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Janitorial experience preferred
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Maintains confidentiality
Computer Skills:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (preferred)
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint (preferred)
- Willingness to learn new software as needed
Certificates and Licenses:
- Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
