Janitor-Front Door Attendant

Summary/Primary Purpose: Perform routine cleaning of the building. Monitor the front door and customer purchases during business hours.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
2. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors, empty/clean all wastebaskets.
3. Replace light bulbs.
4. Strip, clean, buff, and apply sealer to floors.
5. Wash windows inside and out.
6. Perform routine maintenance of housekeeping equipment and keep janitorial closet in a tidy and clean manner.
7. Remove snow and other debris from around the perimeter of the building.

1. Light painting and other maintenance, as needed.
2. Greet customers as they enter and exit the store.
3. Observe customers while shopping to help deter potential theft.

1. All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:   None

Education and/or Experience:   High school or equivalent diploma, and 6 months or more experience in a related field.

Qualifications:  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
2. Basic computer skills with ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
3. Knowledge of cleaning supplies and their use. 
4. Knowledge of standard hand tools and equipment.
5.  Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
