What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelter Monitor position at The Salvation Army Central Territory?
The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 12am (Midnight to 8am)-3rd Shift
Starting salary is $14 per hour

Summary/Primary Purpose: Provide support to the Emergency Shelter Director by providing supervision and intake of clients, maintaining security, and providing supportive services in a Christian atmosphere.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake interviews of incoming residents into the shelter.
- Assign a proper room; distribute needed bedding and personal care items.
- Provide necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed. Maintain an awareness of resident's needs through Care Management sessions.
- Update resident's Service Plans.
- Answer phone calls take messages when appropriate.
- General cleaning as necessary.
- Administer breathalyzer and drug testing.
- Review Staff Changeover and update as needed.
- Conduct room inspections and enforce cleaning rules for areas.
- Be responsible for over-all cleanliness of the shelter areas.
- Update HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) database, including care management notes, services provided and coordinated entry and intakes and exits.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required, and a minimum of 1 year experience.
Requirements:Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
- Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
- Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
- Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
