What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor position at The Salvation Army USA Western Territory?
The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a full-time Detox Counselor position. Hours are 2 : 30pm to 10 : 30pm, weekdays and / or weekends.
Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor is responsible for providing Social Detox clients with the clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs.
Provides screening, admission, discharge, and referral services to Detox clients. Provides individual counseling and conducts alcohol education and skill-building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment.
Handles crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
Minimum Requirements :
- Minimum of one-year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.
- Must demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master's degree in behavioral health science.
- Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.
- Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises;
and keep accurate records.
Must have current CPR / First Aid Training.
Qualifications :
- Education : Bachelors of Psychology (preferred)
- Licenses & Certifications : Cert Nursing Assistant (preferred)
