About the Job
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Hotel Accounting Controller to oversee all accounting and financial control functions for our full-service resort. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP/USALI, Marriott brand standards, management company policies, and ownership requirements. The Hotel Accounting Controller partners closely with resort leadership to support operational decision-making, protect assets, and drive financial performance across all revenue-generating and support departments.
What You Do:
- Support the Director of Finance in managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in compliance with Marriott reporting standards.
- Ensure accurate departmental P&Ls and consolidated financial statements across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Banquets, and Spa operations.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year results, and communicate findings to leadership.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, purchasing and Red Rock compliance, accounts receivable, group billing, payroll, gratuities, service charges, cash controls, bank reconciliations, and credit card settlements.
- Manage general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, capital-in-progress, and depreciation.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition for packages, resort fees, loyalty redemptions, and multi-department offerings.
- Assist with annual operating and capital budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial projections.
- Support FF&E and capital reserve tracking, reporting, and compliance with ownership and management agreements.
- Implement and maintain Marriott-required internal controls and audit standards.
- Ensure compliance with sales tax, occupancy tax, resort fees, gratuities, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, train, and develop the resort accounting team in alignment with Marriott leadership competencies.
- Partner with department leaders to improve financial literacy, cost controls, and margin performance.
- Serve as a financial advisor to resort leadership, ownership, and Marriott corporate partners.
- Oversee financial systems and integrations, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with brand standards.
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive hospitality accounting experience in a full-service resort environment (Marriott or comparable brand required).
- Prior experience leading or managing accounting teams preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/USALI and Marriott accounting policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in hospitality financial systems and reporting platforms.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail with a disciplined approach to internal controls and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-department operation.
- High ethical standards and a strong ownership mindset.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during month-end close, audits, budget cycles, and peak operational periods.
Salary : $95,000 - $125,000
