Driver/Mover

POSITION SUMMARY

The Driver/Mover position involves safely transporting materials and personnel to and from job sites and performing moving labor both in the warehouse and on job sites.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

• Loads delivery vehicle with furniture, art, rugs, decor and supplies with the help of other movers on the crew
• Delivers furniture, art, rugs, decor and supplies to the correct location for staging and/or decorating (staging). Places items at the direction of the design team, hanging art, making beds, etc.
• Safely transports other team members on the crew.
• Plans and completes an efficient delivery and pick up route for the day.
• Works with other team members to pack up furniture, art, rugs, decor and supplies in a property and load in the delivery vehicle (destage).
• Ensures that delivery vehicle receives basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor.
• Assists in general warehouse duties when delivery route is completed - including cleaning, stocking, organizing, etc.
• Determines work assignments and material or equipment needs based on written work orders or oral instructions.
• Transports freight, stock, and other materials by hand or by the use of trucks to and from various locations.
• Sorts cargo before loading or unloading.
• Loads and unloads cargo using appropriate tools.
• Uses bracing, padding, or strapping to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
• Packs containers; repacks containers that are damaged.
• Marks containers with identifying information or tags.
• Transports tools and supplies from storage unit to work area and returns them after use.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Ability to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps.
• Ability to adapt to changes in routes and schedules
• Ability to maintain basic logs and records.
• Ability to handle materials and equipment in a responsible manner.
• Able to remain professional and courteous at all times.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
• Experience driving box trucks, using hand trucks and power tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds regularly.
• Must be able to load and unload packages with and without hand trucks in various types of weather.
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body. This will include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, carrying, and stooping.
