Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Compliance Officer oversees KDOL's Controlled Documents Plan and is the agency point of contact for agency document management system. The compliance officer also works with Legal Services to ensure the agency follows the Kansas Open Records Act (KORA), the Kansas Open Meetings Act (KOMA), and state and federal record retention policies. They will also work assist business units with the implementation, monitoring, and reporting the status of IRS, SSA, and HHS compliance controls. The Compliance Officer works under the direction of the Chief of Staff and closely with the Information Security Officer.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting review of Agency recordkeeping practices: this includes working with the archivists of the Kansas Historical Society
- Provide KORA/KOMA training to agency personnel and assist in training on KS Government Ethics
- Assist business units with implementing, monitoring, and reporting status of IRS, SSA, and HHS compliance controls
- Serving as the Agency's Record Officer and appearing before the State Records Board in order to provide updates on record retention
- Responsible for the oversight of policies and directives
- Assists authors to write and review policies
- Serves as the subject matter expert for document management system and assists users with creating workflows and templates
- Provides technical support and training for KDOL staff regarding writing procedures, program plans, and other controlled documents
- Works with business units to identify and document workflows
Minimum Qualifications
One year experience in compliance or compliance-related position
