Middle School Co-Op Professional Educator
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a professional educator of a dedicated group of children for a two (2) week program that serves incoming 6th grade students
Design and implement project based program blocks that promote learning through thematic inquiry that is interdisciplinary
Collaborate with the Leadership Team to identify project themes
Lead and teach two (2) “Major” (approximately 1.5 hours) learning blocks per day
Co-teach a morning block of “Designed Thinking” with all professional educators, head counselors and assistant counselors
Design and implement a STEM based curriculum that is grounded in the concept of design based thinking
Provide supply lists based upon recommended budgets to the Leadership Team at least one month prior to the start of the Co-Op Program
Serve as a field trip leader as needed, but no more than once per week
Teach and mentor the Counselors to give direct guidance and instructions for maximum effectiveness
Supervise and assist children in all of their activities with the goals of:
Promoting collaboration among students & staff
Establishing a mutual attitude of caring and creating among all students & staff
Assisting children with acquiring new skills during their program blocks
Infusing all activities with fun
Participate fully and with enthusiasm in all orientation week training sessions
Serve as a role model for children by:
Arriving on time and fully ready to participate
Working as a team member with other counselors, assistant counselors and staff
Taking joy in learning new things with the children
Supporting a drug free, screen free, healthy environment
Enforce the highest level of safety for children at all times including
Maintain accurate attendance records on a daily basis
Be responsible for keeping confidential student emergency data accessible at all times
REQUIREMENTS
Social security card and state identification
Fingerprinting for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee
Two professional references for any non-Mamaroneck School District employee or new Co-Op employee
REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES:
Including orientation, Middle School Co-Op employees will be working from:
June 28 - July 14, 2023
8:00 AM. to 3:30 PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Wednesday (weekly staff Meeting)
*All program start and end times/dates subject to change until program design is complete by June 1st
SALARY
$2,530 Paid at the conclusion of the program
