The Strand House, Manhattan Beach’s beach front fine dining restaurant, is now hiring a General Manager. Our ideal candidate has extensive experience with busy, fast paced fine dining restaurants, and at least 5 years’ experience as a General Manager. You will subscribe to Danny Meyer’s philosophy of the Virtuous Cycle of Hospitality. The Strand House is a sophisticated yet comfortable fine dining restaurant conceived by a small group of South Bay families out of their love for great food, wine and friends. In 2011, The Strand House opened its doors, leading the culinary revolution of Manhattan Beach. With 180° sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, world travelers and locals alike may come for the view, but stay for Chef Chris Park’s Coastal California Cuisine.
The Strand House features 5 levels for guests to enjoy, including 2 bars, dining room, 2 patios, a lobby, and underground wine cellar perfect for intimate events. The restaurant boasts over 200 seats including indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. The Strand House is extremely high volume, and requires a General Manager who enjoys being hands on and fast paced!
Our menu highlights the bounty of produce available year-round in Southern California. Each week, our chefs roam the farmers market sourcing directly from the best farmers and purveyors around. The Strand House is also home to a thoughtful and carefully crafted cocktail and wine program that is sure to please each of our guests.

What you will do…
The General Manager is responsible for the entire operation of The Strand House, including dining room, bars, and private events. You will directly oversee/support a talented team of 8 Front of House and 5 Back of House managers. You will be responsible for the overall safety, performance, and profitability of the restaurant. You will hold your team to exceptionally high standards of food, drink, service, and hospitality. You will do so in an inspiring and positive manner. You are the heart and soul of this restaurant!
This position is for you if you have…
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a General Manager of a large, upscale, fast-paced restaurant with hospitality at the forefront.
- The ability to inspire team members to provide genuine hospitality and impeccable service. Your leadership style promotes mutual trust, respect, and teamwork.
- Solid understanding of California labor laws, Health Department guidelines, etc.
- Financial understanding of budgeting, inventory, and P&L’s.
- Background in catering and events operations strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of food, wine, and spirits.
- Long tenure with previous employers (minimum 2 years at each job).
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- A flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays, etc).
- The ability to perform under pressure.
- Enthusiasm about the brand!
