About Us
In 1926, The Tides started out as an “Apartment Hotel” built by then Portland Mayor, George L. Baker and owned by the Seaside Snug Harbor Company. In 1940, eight studios were added on above the office and in 1963, our two-story oceanfront building was constructed adding 26 more apartments to the rental operation, bringing the total to 51. In 1973, the apartments were sold and are now individually owned with many Owners choosing to participate in our Rental Operation. Although the diving board is long gone, our heated swimming pool is opened seasonally.
The Tides is surrounded on the West by the majestic Pacific Ocean and to the South by the Tillamook Head with the Tillamook “Terrible Tilly” Lighthouse (constructed in 1881) right offshore.
