The Campus Bookstore student worker plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient shopping experience for the Union College community. Responsibilities include assisting customers with purchases and inquiries, operating the cash register, restocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and maintaining a clean and orderly store environment. Student workers may also support online order processing, textbook organization, and event preparation. Strong communication skills, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential. Department: Campus Store Location: Reamer Campus Center Supervisor: Mark Yetman Hours/shifts available: Hours vary based on store needs and student availability. Weekend and evening shifts may be required during peak periods (e.g., start of term, events, or textbook rush). Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr Key Responsibilities: Greet and assist customers in a courteous and professional manner Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to process sales and returns Restock merchandise and maintain organized product displays Assist with receiving, tagging, and inventory of new merchandise Support textbook processing, including shelving and organization Fulfill and package online and in-store pickup orders Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of sales floor and back stock areas Assist with special store events and seasonal sales Follow all store policies and procedures Qualifications: Currently enrolled Union College student Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus, but not required Location: Schenectady, NY E-Verify Participation: Union College participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.
