Definition of Class
This position coordinates the daily activities of the First-Year Experience Unit within the Center for Student Success & First-Year Experience and Ole Miss Opportunity Scholars programs.The incumbent creates, implements, and assesses programs to facilitate recruitment, retention, and support for students within assigned programs.
Examples of Work Performed
- Coordinates the daily activities related to the First-Year Experience Unit with the Center for Student Success & First-Year Experience, Ole Miss Opportunity Scholars (OMO) and/or other special programs within the Center.
- Participates in recruitment activities and provides support to the students enrolled in the programs.
- Assesses program effectiveness and determines methods for retention.
- Creates and implements programming in support of the students and EDHE instructors.
- Provides oversight of programming and support of Ole Miss Opportunity Scholars programs.
- Coordinates support to students in the Ole Miss Opportunity Scholars programs in partnership with the FASTrack program.
- Teaches one EDHE course per semester.
- Serves as an advisor and advocate for students and EDHE instructors.
- Assists the Assistant Director with special projects as needed.
- Represents the Center as a member of various University committees and special initiatives.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
- Coordinates, creates and implements the daily activities of assigned programs.
- Recruits and provides support to students enrolled in the programs.
- Develops assessment tools and retention efforts for each program.
- Teaches at least one course per semester.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Higher Education, Counseling or related field.
AND
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
